Teacher Professional Development
- STEM Student Research Facilitation Course—on-line course for teachers interested in research programs for their schools
- Course is offered by Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy and Northwestern University
- Free of charge; 45 CPDU credits available
Teacher Internships
- Job shadowing and research experiences for teachers (RETs) with partners in industry and academia
Student Mentoring
- Development of CoolHub mentoring platform to match students to mentors in industry and academia to help facilitate their research projects
- CoolHub, developed at the Illinois Math and Science Academy (IMSA), is a collaboration network in STEM teaching and learning for youth and adults
Program Achievements
- 2 Sessions of the STEM Student Research Facilitation Course have been offered
- 21 Teachers have been trained, reaching approximately 1,680 students
- The course will be offered again Winter/Spring 2013
- 19 job shadowing opportunities provided to teachers, Summer 2011
- 20 job shadowing opportunities available Summer 2012
